John Barker was on a photo expedition on the Oregon coast. His hike included a walking staff, but he certainly didn't want to carry a cumbersome tripod. It was here that he had the idea—a nimble, lightweight hiking staff that could easily turn into a monopod and then just as easily turn into a tripod. Thus, the TrekPod was born.
